The face value is the nominal value of a government-issued coin in the currency of its country of origin. For precious metals investments, this value is usually far below value of the metal content itself (i.e. the 1oz American Gold Eagle has a face value of $50 USD).
The purity of an item made of 99.9% (24k) gold or higher.
The purity of an item made of 99.9% silver or higher.
Synonym of purity of a precious metal item, usually expressed in percentage.
General term for items weighing less than 1 troy ounce of the metal they are made of, such as a 1/2 oz gold Maple or 1/4 oz gold Eagle.
